Robotics team has finished its season with a combined record of 18-22.
This year, the team qualified for the STL South League Tournament held at Notre Dame High School, competing with Saint Joseph Academy’s JoeBotics, Gateway STEM Academy’s Spare Parts, and community robotics teams, placing 20th with a record of 2-4 in the tournament to conclude its season.
Senior Aden Wilish he season’s proudest moment, “I think it’s a series of moments. I feel really proud whenever I see the robot fully working and doing as it’s intended to. I don’t think there’s a single thing that I like more than that.”
The robotics team is split into two teams due to the number of people on the team. The teams each have their own individual games, but they compete in the same tournaments.
This year’s DECODE FIRST Tech Challenge required participants to shoot balls into a hoop from a distance and then park into a square.
Statesbots Black ranked 39th percentile for total non-penalty value at the end of the season and 48th percentile in teleoperation. The Statesbots Orange ranked 43th percentile in Endgame and 17th percentile in the Teleoperation. Teleoperation refers to controlling a bot from a distance, using remote control. The team achieved success at the South Tech meet on Dec 13, 2025, finishing fifth overall with a 3-3 record.
“A lot of hard work, just kind of working through problems. You can use kind of almost anything you have (to build a robot), cardboard, plastic, metal, but you just kind of have to come up with an idea and keep working at it,” junior Eleanor Connon said.
This is the robotics team’s 13th season since the program was launched as a club in 2012 alongside the launch of Kirkwood’s robotics club. The team is looking for new members for next year.
